CETAG Strike to End: Academic Activities to Resume in Colleges of Education









After nearly two months of halted academic activities, the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has announced plans to call off its strike on Monday, 29th July 2024. This decision follows a successful agreement with the government regarding the conditions of service for CETAG members.














The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was officially signed, marking the end of a dispute that saw CETAG withdraw all services on Wednesday, 24th July 2024. 
























This drastic action was a direct response to the education minister's directive to withhold their July salaries, a move that prompted immediate cessation of academic activities across Colleges of Education nationwide.




The cessation of services significantly impacted academic activities, particularly affecting final-year students who have been eagerly awaiting the resumption of their studies to complete their programs. With the strike's end in sight, students and staff alike are hopeful and expectant as they prepare to return to their academic routines.

UPDATE🔴: NLC ATTACKS CETAG ⚠️🔴

✍SIR_OJ  The National Labour Commission (NLC) has barred the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) from participating in its meetings until they call off their ongoing strike. The Executive Secretary of the NLC, Ofosu Asamoah, stated that the Commission will not entertain any concerns raised by CETAG leadership as long as the strike continues. The NLC has also taken legal action to obtain a court injunction against the CETAG strike. The Director of Human Resource at the Commission, Dr. Bernice Welbeck, emphasized that they will not listen to CETAG's representatives until the strike is called off. The Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Ben Arthur, has urged CETAG's leadership to end the strike and engage in dialogue with the government.
