UPDATE🔴: NLC ATTACKS CETAG ⚠️🔴

✍SIR_OJ  The National Labour Commission (NLC) has barred the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) from participating in its meetings until they call off their ongoing strike. The Executive Secretary of the NLC, Ofosu Asamoah, stated that the Commission will not entertain any concerns raised by CETAG leadership as long as the strike continues. The NLC has also taken legal action to obtain a court injunction against the CETAG strike. The Director of Human Resource at the Commission, Dr. Bernice Welbeck, emphasized that they will not listen to CETAG's representatives until the strike is called off. The Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Ben Arthur, has urged CETAG's leadership to end the strike and engage in dialogue with the government. ✍SIR_OJ  The ongoing strike action by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has significantly disrupted academic activities across all 46 public colleges of education in the country. The strike, which commenced on June 14th, is now entering its third week. The indefinite strike was initiated by CETAG to compel the government to fulfill agreed arbitral awards, including the payment of an additional month's salary for duties performed by its members in 2022. The strike has had a detrimental impact on students, particularly those at the Komenda College of Education campus. The National Labour Commission (NLC) is expected to take legal action today June 26th, 2024, directing CETAG to call off the strike so that negotiations can resume. However, the union has maintained its stance, refusing to back down until all of its demands are met.
