CETAG Strike Continues: KEY DEMAND TO BE RESOLVED SOON
The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) strike continues.
The primary demand is the migration of college tutors to the rank of university assistant lecturers. Initially receiving salaries akin to training colleges, tutors now seek recognition reflecting the upgrade to colleges of education. Currently, 98% of tutors qualify for this migration.
Despite government efforts to address various issues, CETAG remains firm. In a council meeting held today, Saturday, August 3, 2024, CETAG members unanimously agreed that the strike will only end once the migration is fully implemented and all due salaries are paid.
This stance underscores their frustration and the importance of professional recognition.
Resolving this strike is critical for the future of education in Ghana.
Students in the various Colleges of Education can finally be optimistic that the strike will be called of in the coming days.
